About the Event
Osceola Arts is proud to present Theory of Disappearance: Survival, Shame, and the Social Body by Gabriel Osorio-Tapia at West Osceola Library as part of the ongoing Art in Public Places Program.
Gabriel Osorio-Tapia is a Puerto Rican assemblage artist based in Orlando, Florida. Working with found and discarded objects, he creates deeply personal works that explore themes of memory, resilience, and cultural identity. His art reflects the tension between loss and survival, often drawing from his own experiences of leaving behind both hardship and the familiarity of home. Through his assemblages, Osorio reclaims fragments of the past and transforms them into narratives of endurance, heritage, and transformation.
The exhibition is on view at West Osceola Library (305 Campus St.) from April 20 to June 29 during library hours.
The Art in Public Places program aims to fill our Osceola County communities with local art in the public libraries and Kissimmee City Hall. If interested in showing work through this program, please apply at www.osceolaarts.org/art-in-public-places or contact diana@osceolaarts.org for more information.
