About the Event
Osceola Arts is proud to present the artworks of Delroy Smart at Hart Memorial Library as part of the Art in Public Places Program.
Delroy Smart is a visual artist based in Kissimmee, FL, engaging in various mediums. At a young age, Smart was interested in comic books and would craft toys out of Jamaican hardwood using a machete. Attending high school in Long Island, NY, Smart pursued his creative interests. After his move to Florida, Smart continued making art, exploring acrylic more in his practice. He authored the books “Goodbye Driving Anxiety,” and “A Wolf in Clarkstown,” both with covers he designed.
“My work evolves from pencil to paint, exploring various artistic styles and themes. I focus on improving how I apply acrylic on canvas, creating colorful, dynamic pieces. I’ve long been curious about the platonic solids. Because of this, I blend impressionistic and abstract ideas with geometric patterns.”
The exhibition is on view at Hart Memorial Library (211 E Dakin Ave) from March 11 to May 13 during library hours.
The Art in Public Places program aims to fill our Osceola County communities with local art in the public libraries and Kissimmee City Hall. If interested in showing work through this program, please apply at www.osceolaarts.org/art-in-public-places.
