About the Event
Osceola Arts is proud to present the annual Black History Month Exhibition at Kissimmee City Hall, part of the Art in Public Places Program. Osceola County takes pride in celebrating the vibrant and diverse community it represents. This year, Osceola Arts and the City of Kissimmee come together to honor the rich cultural heritage and achievements of African Americans, and those of the African Diaspora.
The exhibition features the work of five talented Central Florida artists, each using unique mediums to express their creative vision. Rick Arnold’s drawings celebrate Black figures and loved ones as heroes, inspired by the superheroes of Saturday morning cartoons. Renee Elizabeth reflects on her many homes through her art, blending the vibrant hues of the Caribbean, the healing influences of the Carolinas, and the dynamic landscapes of Florida. Hannah Forbes highlights the beauty and strength of Black women through her striking graphic design portraits. Robert Rell captures the vibrancy of life with bold colors, dynamic movement, and graffiti-inspired techniques. Ida Robles explores her Afro-Latina heritage with bold portraits, while also honoring prominent figures in Black American history.
Together, these diverse perspectives create a compelling tribute to the contributions of Black artists and their influence on American culture.Â
Join us in celebrating this powerful exhibition, which runs January 20 - February 28, 2025 and is open to the public during Kissimmee City Hall operating hours. A reception will accompany the exhibition at City Hall (Rain Garden) on February 4, at 5 p.m.
