About the Event

Osceola Arts is excited to kick off spring with an exciting new exhibit at Osceola Arts. “The New Urban Contemporary” April 9- May 23, is an exhibition that features local and international artists of different art disciplines who share their creative roots as urban street artists.

Florida urban street art aficionado, collector, and exhibition curator, Juan Santos “Nano” of Public Art Nation publicartnation.com has put together a collection of works with the goal of raising awareness of the young talent that is flourishing in Central Florida.

Public Art Nation advocates for more inclusive exhibition opportunities in local art galleries for Florida urban street artists. Its mission is to connect artists and collectors through in-person art acquisition events.  “Orlando has a healthy art ecosystem but lacks the excitement you would see in cities like Miami, St. Pete, or Jacksonville. My goal is to advocate and raise awareness of a thriving urban art scene that has blossomed in Central Florida,” says Santos.

Some artists exhibiting have made a name for themselves in the public art scene by creating large-scale murals in Orlando and Kissimmee. Exhibiting artists include  Halsi, Jonathan Stemberger, Sapphire Servellon, Naderson St. Pierre, Noirson, Gina Tyquiengco, Paulaiden Minerva, Jessica Dunbar, Eduardo Smet, Tony Philippou, Inkusual Studios, CStanley Creative, Steven Teller, Ermes Art, German Lemus, PJ Svedja, Drake Howard, Elements of Life, Pner&Kies, East Docht, Leo Monzoy, and BOZKO.

New Urban Contemporary runs April 9-May 23. Osceola Arts exhibits are always free and open to the public. To see works on display go to https://www.osceolaarts.org/the-new-urban-contemporary. For more information contact Marilyn Cortes-Lovato, Director of Visual Arts at marilyn@osceolaarts.org.
