About the Event

Opening September 8 at Osceola Arts! “Symbols and Myths” is an exhibition of artworks created by Central Florida artists Jose Sanchez and Raul Gomez. Sanchez a Puerto Rican native and Gomez born in Cuba both have strong connections to the surrealist movement and their Taino/African/Hispanic heritage. Both artists paint narratives rooted in dreams, fantasy, past memories, and fragmented identities. In “Symbols and Myths” Gomez and Sanchez nostalgic for the ancestral past of their island cultures, pay tribute to poetic origin stories and the unconscious mind with art pieces that revel in the uncanny.  Symbols and Myths on display in the Community Gallery, September 8- November 6. Free artists reception on Saturday, September 19 from 2 pm-5pm. Please register for your time-of-entry for the Sept. 19th event at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/osceola-arts-celebrates-hispanic-artists-and-culture-with-3-art-receptions-tickets-113557651994.  For more information contact marilyn@osceolaarts.org.
