About the Event
Osceola Arts -Art in Public Places at the Hart Memorial Central Library presents St. Cloud, FL artists Sally and Stefan Alexandres. Sally and Stefan believe that civilization begins at home, the place where the family experience influences and cultivates the soul and spirit. Stefan opened his first studio in Greece in the early 1970s with a focus on ancient Byzantine art creating museum reproductions with archaic designs. He creates artwork using ancient techniques — no molds or stamps, just hand tools. He draws inspiration for his metalwork from history, mythology, folk tales, and real life. Stefan is a teaching artist at Crealde School of Art in Winter Park, Fl.
Sally Alexandres received a BFA degree from the University of Northern Iowa. She resided in Greece for sixteen years before moving to Florida with Stefan in the late 1980s. Sally was an art teacher in the Osceola County School District until her retirement in 2011. Travel has been an influential part of her experience, especially in India, Pakistan, Greece, Mexico, Panama, and Peru. Works created by this talented couple are on display at the Hart Memorial from January 17 through April 30.
