About the Event

Osceola Arts -Art in Public Places at West Osceola Branch Library presents local artist Derricka White - Derricka Destiny.

Derricka is an Orlando native. She’s a self-taught abstract impressionist. Her complicated upbringing of jumping from group home to foster home in the system has shifted her work into what it is today.

A long time ago Derricka decided that her artwork needed to reflect the positivity that she wanted to see in the world around her. This began her shift in thinking. She traded her early work of black and white sharpies for bold color, and eccentric patterns. After spending a lot of time alone, and sitting with her thought processes of relationships, life, and all the experiences in between, Derricka has solidified herself within this very radiant style that reflects her emotions. Utilizing detailed lines and bright colors, each piece is one of a kind and highly unique.

Derricka’s work has been displayed at Appleton Creative's Awareness Gallery, Mills Gallery, FAVO, and University of Central Florida and other venues in Central Florida.

Works on display at West Osceola Library from August 29 through October 29. For more information contact marilyn@osceolaarts.org.
