About the Event
Osceola Arts Art in Public Places presents artworks created by local artist Dafeney Josue at West Osceola Branch Library in Celebration from June 23 through August 23.
"Who knew YouTube tutorials, wine, and some paint supplies would get me here today. I’m what some may call a late bloomer. Growing up, I loved anything that was related to being creative, but I didn’t identify as an artist. So, for many years I pursued everything but art. Whether it be nursing, sales, customer service, insurance, etc., it was like trying to fit a triangle into a circle. In 2016, I was reintroduced to art. I didn't know then, but I came to learn that I was meant to be an artist. Since then, I have volunteered at my local hospital in a program called Arts and Medicine for cancer patients and families. I have participated in various art shows and gallery exhibitions, started a small business, and continued to experiment with various materials and; acrylic mediums. Throughout my journey I've learned that I can showcase black femininity in such a bold and vibrant way. Ultimately, I want everyone to unleash the beautiful god given light within.” Dafeney Josue
